I did a random road trip that accidentally ended in Tabuelan. I was hoping to go farther, (Tabuelan was not my destination) however, since I had limited travel time, I decided to spend my weekend in that small town.

Located in the Northern Part of Cebu, a 3-hour drive away from Cebu City, Tabuelan is a quiet town with a small bus terminal and a public market. I was not familiar with the place but I heard that they have beautiful beaches which stirred-up my curiosity.

How to get there from Cebu City:

From North bus terminal, take a regular bus or van.

Bus fare: 70.00 – 80.00
Van fare:  100.00

When you get to town, take a motorcycle ( habal-habal ) for 25.00 – 30.00 pesos going to the beach. Maravilla is a town next from Tabuelan. It’s a 10-minute habal–habal ride.

Where to stay:

Tourism Center: A tourism center is located near the Barangay Hall. They have rooms available for 2000.00 – 2500.00.

​​Room for rent: If you are traveling solo, you can find a cheap tourist inn near the public market from 300.00 non-aircon – 600.00 aircon. (cheapest option for solo travelers)

Cottage: I met Lola Brenda,  she has a room for rent with free cottage and kitchen for 1500.00 only. Good for 10 – 20 people or more. Water and electricity, free. (recommended for group travel)

Transportation:

There are no tricycles, jeeps or buses available going to Maravilla. Take a motorcycle (habal-habal) going to the beach for however,  watch out for cheeky drivers, they will change you more. A driver snatched 50.00 from me.

Tip: Tabuelan is good for group travel. Accommodations are designed for group travelers to split expenses. Not recommended for solo travelers.
